Jax Leaders & Allies – Creating a Safe Harbor for LGBTQ Nonprofits

When Florida’s political landscape grew increasingly hostile to LGBTQ-serving nonprofits, Wirth Works launched Jax Leaders & Allies—a convening group for organizations navigating censorship, threats, and defunding. What began as a stopgap for mutual support evolved into a powerful coalition.

Wirth Works secured seed funding, built a central resource hub, and curated safe, productive spaces for dialogue and coordination. We gathered more than 30 participating leaders, built a website, and created a conduit between LGBTQ nonprofits and funders—ensuring grant opportunities stayed relevant to real-world conditions.

Now meeting regularly and gaining visibility, Jax Leaders & Allies is both a tactical network and a beacon of resilience. We’ve advised donors, presented to funder collaboratives, and are on the path to become a trusted resource for those committed to protecting LGBTQ youth and families.
